As can be seen, Interactive Modelling results in a functional client/server
architecture. From here to implementation is an easy step. This is because such a
functional architecture is fit of it's own to be implemented to any of the
existing types of technical infrastructures.
Now we have a functional architecture, there is nothing against implementing
it on a 'classical' mainframe. Such an implementation has the advantage
that all functional partition is already there for later distribution to more
state of the art platforms.
The most obvious implementation of course is on a modern client/server
architecture. Which functionality has to be implemented where on the
infrastructure is a matter of determining performance of different solutions, as
usual for such solutions.
As alternative a part of the model's functionality can of course very well
be realized on a mainframe.

A totally new option using Interactive Modelling is the implementation of the
functional client/server architecture on a world wide network, such as
Internet. The IMA concept has a seamless connection to the newest trends
in the field. This is because in this architecture, the objects under attendance
of a process are in fact at the clients disposition, while at the same time
all applying services are supplied by the servers concerned.
This trend makes it possible to use pc's that only have (multimedia) interface functionality. The business functionality is 'stolen' from the 'Net' as applets on the (activated) objects on hand.

In all these cases implementation means choosing the preferred solution,
given technical demands and constraints, and given economical and

functional components, a flexible adaption to new technological
