In order to elaborate the presented Interactive Model Architecture in
detail, and further on to verify its correctness and flexibility, a series
of prototypes is realized in IBM SmallTalk using IBM's graphical
development environment VisualAge 2.0 [1].
The most recent prototype (PROTO-5) comprises the following processes [2]:
- model setup;
- saving of a model;
- reloading from a saved model;
- starting work orders;
- scheduling work orders;
- delegation of work orders;
- duplication of work orders;
- sending and receiving messages;
- administration and query of data;
- simple accommodation of the workplace setup;
- selling conforming Product Market Mix definitions;
- selling from stock on hand;
- replenishing stocks;
- defining product assortments;
- defining Product Market Mix;
- producing invoices;
- sending invoices.
For the next prototype the following extensions are planned [3]:
- flexible Workflow Management;
- resource administration including personal preferences;
- user type administration including authorization;
- flexible workplace setup;
- differentiated user views on domain objects.
All prototypes can be used for illustration purposes.
Notes:
[1] I reconstructed the latest version as PROTO-6.0.0 using VisualAge 6.0
[2] After the end of the IMA project in 1995, I created a new version PROTO6 without the retail and data processes .....
[3] ..... However, PROTO-6 partly contained the planned extensions, and is used for the chapter Illustrations
